Oppose magazine
Co-founder and editor of a zine about gentrification
Oppose takes both a serious and satirical approach to urban development.
We created the zine as a group of MA journalism students of different backgrounds with a shared experience: our respective cities were being reshaped into sleek urban landscapes, as was the area surrounding our university.
As its name suggests, the zine opposes this idea of gentrification as a process of social cleansing, and the way in which cities are being reshaped to disadvantage poorer and ethnic minority communities.
